Sight, Hearing, Smell, Taste, and Touch
How many of you have ever said?
Thank You Allah, as they rose from bed?
Thank you for my eyes that see,
The Sky, The Mountains, The great Oak Tree.
The birds that fly and all the things, so dear to me.
Have you ever said I thank you Allah
For giving me the gift to hear?
A songbird sing, my doorbell ring,
Or loving words from one held so dear?
Have you thanked Him for the gift of smell?
That smells the breeze of spring, so well.
The aroma of a summer Rose or Lilacs when they bloom,
Or Sunday dinner on the stove, whose odor fills the room?
And How about your gift of taste?
To savor the crops from God,
Without these gifts, where would we be?
As through this life, we trod.
Lastly, we have the gift of touch
We never think about it much.
This gift that does our hands allow
The soothing of a loved ones brow.
It lets us hold our children when they come into our lives.
With it, we hold our loved ones and we caress our wives.
With it, we earn a living with toil and sometimes tears
With touch, we live our lives, with touch we pass the years.
Next time you hold a baby or clasp an old friend's hand,
If you hear, someone say "I love you," then you might understand.
When you see a blind man, or one who cannot speak or hear,
Say a prayer for that person; you might even shed a tear.
If you see, an eagle while in flight can see the stars in the dark of night.
See a snowflake as it falls; watch your child go chasing balls.
If you can see, if you can hear if you can touch, taste and smell,
Then put your hands together, thank the Allah and thank him well.
